@TaTechTips explained a new feature on Google Maps allows people to choose a route which should use less fuel.

Once you programme your route a pop-up should appear saying “save fuel with route suggestions based on your engine type”, explains the video.

The man behind the account said: “If you want to save a bit of money on your fuel this winter, Google Maps has a really cool new feature that will help you do just that.”

Demonstrating on an iPhone, he pointed out the feature adding: “So now when you enter a destination into Google Maps there is this feature here which gives you the best route to save fuel on.”

There is then a button which asks you to select your fuel type – and based on that the most efficient route should appear.

“So next time you want to plan your route, check on Google Maps and see which is the best way to save fuel,” he adds.

It comes after Google recently introduced a live feature to their maps and a new electric vehicle charging station finder.

Android and iPhone users in select cities can now open Google Maps and see the real world pop-up.

Hopes to make the app more useful, every building and road will appear making directions easier to follow.
