People are only just realising £1 kitchen staple will rid car of rust in seconds
DRIVERS have been left stunned after realising that a £1 kitchen staple will rid the car of rust in seconds.
The genius tip involves using an everyday household item that you can buy easily at any supermarket in the UK.
TikTok user @caolans_classics says you can remove rust from your car’s chrome using aluminium paper, which costs around £1.
He said: “It’s been raining loads in London recently, so I’ve not been out in the bug.
“But when it came back to it, there was an old rust developing on the chrome.
“You just need tin foil water and WD-40 and a couple of rags.”
The poster sprays the entire infected area with the WD-40 spray and then waits around 10 minutes to make the product work.
He continues: “After that, you want to grab some tin foil; I don’t know the science behind it, but it reacts in a way that removes the dust almost entirely.
“So you want to roll it up into a ball and then just rub down the entire infected area.”
The car expert then says that drivers need to grab some water and a rag and remove all the rusty residue left over.
He added: “Finally, give it another protective coating of WD 40and wipe it down with a different cloth.
“I didn’t expect this to work this well, but the difference is actually crazy.”
The video has gone viral on TikTok with more than 10,000 views and 66 comments.
And users also suggested other hacks to get rid of rust in the chrome of your car.
One said: “Also, water and metal wool works.”
Another said: “Just use water and tin foil, then polish.”
A third commented: “Coca-Cola is great as well.”
This comes after a car cleaning whizz revealed a 29p Tesco hack that will make your car smell fresh in seconds.
Plus, another TikTok user revealed a solution of glue and baking soda that can clean out all the nooks and crannies in your car.
