People are just realizing they’ve made a huge Threads app mistake – check it now
MARK Zuckerberg’s Meta released a rival Twitter app on July 6 and it’s been increasing in popularity.
At the same time, a lesser-known app with the same name has also seen a surge in downloads and people are reportedly mistaking it for the Meta version.
Meta’s Threads app is connected to Instagram.
It’s described as a “text-based conversation app” which sounds a lot like Twitter.
Threads is tied to Instagram, with its title on iOS and Android app stores listed as “Threads, an Instagram app”.
You can get it for Android and iPhone as long as you also have Instagram.
The Threads app by Threads Group, Inc is also available for Android and iPhone users.
It states clearly on its App Store page: “Not affiliated with Instagram.”
This Threads app isn’t like Twitter but it is a bit like Slack.
The app description says: “We’ve built an all-in-one communication platform designed for makers.
“With the help of our growing community, we’ve been able to fully and repeatedly replace tools like Slack, Discord, and Twist, for companies looking to get more done.”
According to Tech Crunch, the Threads app which has been around for four years saw a sudden surge in downloads when Meta’s Threads was released.
It reportedly went from only having a few downloads to 880,000 downloads between July 6 and July 12.
Before you download the wrong one, check the logos.
The first Threads is a purple logo with white squares and Meta’s is black and white with a swirling symbol.
