People are just realising unlikely household object is killing your Wi-Fi
THERE is an unlikely object in your house that’s secretly killing your Wi-Fi signal from just a few feet away.
Thankfully, the culprit is fairly easy to replace.
If you’re in a Wi-Fi dark spot in your home and are stumped as to what the connection killer is, take a look at the windows in that room.
If you have metallic blinds in there, then you may have your answer.
Metallic blinds will diminish your Wi-Fi signal.
It’s the same reason your fridge or other electronic devices can squash your internet speeds.
Radio waves are electromagnetic, meaning that metal has the ability to absorb them.
So, your Wi-Fi hub is pushing out all the right signals – but they’re being sucked up by surrounding metal instead of your devices.
Anything that has metal, such as metal blinds, doors, furniture, infrastructure, and walls, can mess with your signal.
The more metal there is between your router and the connected device, the worse the Wi-Fi signal will be.
So, you may have to move your router outside of the room with metal blinds and into another with fabric window covers.
Although you could consider replacing the blinds, if you want the router to stay put.
While this can get costly, it will help you avoid wasting money on internet speeds you likely aren’t getting.
Whatever you do, keep an eye out for any other metal objects that could be scuppering your internet speeds and move them as far away from the router as possible.
