Pentagon officially opening UFO investigations office

A NEW office focused solely on investigating UFO sightings will soon be opening in the Pentagon.

On July 20, the Department of Defense (DoD) revealed that it was establishing an All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), according to a statement.

The office will act as a hub for collation and management of UFO sighting reports across the DoD.

More specifically, the AARO will synchronize efforts across the DoD and other U.S. federal agencies “to detect, identify and attribute objects of interest…to mitigate any associated threats to safety of operations and national security.”

This includes anomalous, unidentified space, airborne, submerged, and transmedium objects, the DoD added.

‘Transmedium’ refers to the ability of an object to fly across multiple environments – such as both in space and underwater.

Why the sudden interest?

The new office results from a provision of the National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal 2022.

In recent years, the U.S. government has taken an active interest in UFO reports.

This is especially the case after three video clips from 2017 were leaked showing unidentified objects zooming past confounded U.S. Navy pilots.

In 2020, the U.S. Navy officially acknowledged the videos but has not explained what the mysterious objects were.

Shortly after, the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence called for an inquiry into UFOs — or unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP).

Following the inquiry, the Pentagon released a report on more than 140 UFO sightings by navy pilots in 2021.

They concluded that there was no evidence of alien activity in any of these instances.

Nasa is also getting involved

The DoD is not the only agency investigating UFOs – Nasa is also taking more proactive measures.

Just this past weekend, the US space agency said it is exploring the possibility of transforming satellites into alien seekers as a way to probe unexplained sightings without having to launch new equipment.

Nasa’s plan to see whether pre-existing satellites can be turned into alien hunting machines is part of a larger study to examine UAPs.

The unidentified phenomena study isn’t set to kick off until later this year, but experts on the team are already coming up with big plans, like figuring out how they can utilize technology that’s already in place.

“This team is going to be looking at questions like: ‘do we have sensors that can see things, you know, take another look at the evidence?’ the agency’s deputy administrator Col. Pam Melroy said during a press conference in London, according to The Telegraph.

“One of the big questions…is: ‘We have a ton of satellites looking down at the Earth, are any of them useful?’” Melroy explained.
