Peep Show actress joins royals at Ascot due to close link with King Charles
Sophie Winkleman has been pictured at Royal Ascot with King Charles and Queen Camilla today.
The actress stood out from the crowd in yellow and was seen watching from a balcony alongside the royals.
The 42-year-old half-sister of presenter Claudia Winkleman arrived with her husband of almost 15 years, Lord Frederick Windsor.
The British financial analyst, 44, is the only son of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent.
He is the second cousin of His Majesty and therefore first cousin to the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Wearing her brunette tresses down, Sophie wowed in a white hat as she pulled up for day five of the annual event.
She teamed her classic accessory with a yellow tea dress and white shoes.
The star was seen chatting to King Charles, Camilla and Thomas Kingston.
The Queen coordinated with the TV star in white, wearing a wide-brimmed, feathered hat and matching dress.
Sophie’s spouse Frederick grew up at Kensington Palace alongside his more distant cousins, Prince Harry and Prince William.
His mother was born Baroness Marie Christine von Reibnitz before marrying Prince Michael in 1978.
Freddie – the 53rd in line to the throne – and Sophie married in Hampton Court Palace back in September 2009.
They have two daughters together: Maud, nine, and seven-year-old Isabella.
Sophie is recognisable to many with credits including Peep Show, in which she played Big Suze.
Her other parts have included Sanditon, Strike, Two And A Half Men as well as 100 Questions.
Sophie has previously spoken about marrying into the Royal Family, saying she has found the experience nothing but positive.
She told The Times in 2020: “I’ve been incredibly welcomed with open arms by all of them.
“The Queen’s been wonderful, Prince Charles has been wonderful, Prince William’s been heaven.”
She added: “They’d never tell me off at all if I wanted to play some [racy] role. Everyone’s looked after me. Oh God, please don’t make me sound too gushing.”
