Paul Pogba gives verdict on ‘difficult’ Man United season

Paul Pogba admits it has been a ‘difficult’ season for him at Manchester United as he nears the end of his six-year deal with the club. United had been expected to seriously challenge for the Premier League this year, but instead they find themselves in a fight for the top-four and out of all the cup competitions.

This trophyless season will make it five years since United last won a trophy, a damning reflection on the lack of progress that has been made in the last half a decade.

United backed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his backroom staff with new contracts last summer but parted ways with the Norwegian in November of last year after a dire start to the new campaign.

Pogba has also had to deal with his own personal setback of a thigh injury which left him sidelined for three months, something which has further contributed to the dull mood around Old Trafford.

The French midfielder seems to be much happier now he is away on international duty and he has taken the opportunity to speak about his club situation once again.

“You have to tell the truth: there were difficult times, especially when I was in Manchester,” he told Telefoot. “When I’m not playing or when the results are not there, coming here gives you a boost.

“How do I judge my season? It’s difficult because there have been a lot of events, between the change of coach and the injury… We no longer have a title to play for.”
