Patriots’ Jack Jones called out Ja Morant before own firearm arrest: ‘Put them guns down’

Jack Jones should have heeded his own advice.

The Patriots cornerback was arrested on Friday after allegedly attempting to bring two loaded firearms in his carry-on luggage onto a plane at Boston’s Logan Airport.

But just over a month ago, Jones criticized Grizzlies star Ja Morant for a similar incident.

Morant on Friday — the same day as Jones’ arrest — was suspended for 25 games next season after brandishing an alleged firearm on social media twice in four months.

“@JaMorant dumb.. you letting social media and yo pride ruin yo real money,” Jones tweeted after the second video. “Put them guns down and run that money up. Make one of yo homies sign up for security or concealed carry if you feel like you need it that bad.. but you the bread winner you gotta start acting like it..”

It appears that message was lost on himself.

In March, Morant held up a firearm to his face while recording himself on Instagram Live at a strip club.

The NBA subsequently suspended him for eight games, and Morant apologized.

In May, however, another video of Morant waving around a firearm in a car emerged after his friend recorded him on a different Instagram Live.

The contention on Morant’s side is that he was holding up toy gun in the car.

He was suspended indefinitely while the league investigated before the 25-game punishment he received on Friday.

Jones was arrested on weapons charges, according to MassLive, and his bail was set at $50,000.

He will be arraigned in East Boston District Court next week, per the report.

His carry-on also reportedly contained extra ammunition.

Jones is entering his second season in the NFL after a standout rookie year, recording two interceptions and 30 tackles.

The Patriots selected Jones in the fourth round of the 2022 draft.

“We have been notified that Jack Jones was arrested at Logan Airport earlier today,” the Patriots said in a statement on Friday, according to ESPN. “We are in the process of gathering more information and will not be commenting further at this time.”
