Partner Content | Top betting picks to win the Masters: Back Jon Rahm and Jordan Spieth at Augusta

It’s Masters week and we’re taking a look at three players primed to bring home the green jacket from Augusta National.

The pre-tournament narrative: Jon Rahm has been quiet lately but he’s still the No. 3 ranked player in the world for a reason. He’s got one major under his belt and is a solid bet to add a second come Sunday. We’re also backing Jordan Spieth and Cameron Smith, two elite ball strikers that have seen success at Augusta before.

Here are our top Masters picks, which begins on April 6.

Best Bet : Jon Rahm to win (+1,000)

It seems like Rahm is flying under the radar this week and that works just fine for us.

The Spaniard has posted three straight events without a top-20 finish but one of those was a withdrawal due to illness (Players Championship) and one was in the matchplay, which we’re willing to throw out.

Before that, he had won five of his last nine starts while never finishing worse than T8 — now that’s a heater.

When Rahm is on his game there are very few players that can match him. He’s the only player on the PGA Tour to be ranked within the top 30 in all four strokes gained metrics (off-the-tee, approach, around-the-greens, and putting), per Justin Ray.

Add in the fact that he has a fantastic history at Augusta National, and we have the recipe for a second major championship victory. Rahm has made the cut at the Masters in each of his six starts, with four top-10 finishes and two top-five finishes.

Rahm leads the PGA Tour in strokes gained: total (+2.498), birdie average (5.21) and scoring average (68.903). He also hits 72.8% of greens in regulation (third) and ranks sixth in driving distance (314.1). Expect him to thrive in what should be a colder, longer environment.

Key stat: Rahm is gaining 2.90 strokes to the field over his past 50 rounds (best), according to DataGolf.

Quick picks

Jordan Spieth to win (+1,800) : Spieth is trending heading into the Masters. That’s an auto-bet on our end. The 29-year-old has made the cut in four of his last five stroke play events with three top-six finishes mixed in.

He probably should have won the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the Valspar Championship but some late-round miscues on Sunday landed him T4 and T3, respectively. What is encouraging, though, is he is absolutely striping the golf ball.

Spieth has picked up strokes gained: approach in each of his past six events and is rolling the rock much better, too. The Texan has five top-three finishes in nine starts at Augusta including a win in 2015.

Cameron Smith to win (+2,800) : If any LIV golfer is going to show up and make some noise, we reckon it’ll be Smith. The Aussie has been out of sight and out of mind for many PGA Tour fans but that doesn’t mean he can’t compete.

Smith won last year’s Open Championship and Players Championship and remains one of the best short-game players in the world and a prolific ball striker.

He also loves Augusta. Smith has three top-five finishes in his last five Masters starts and is the only player in tournament history to shoot all four rounds in the 60s (2020).
