There are four teams remaining in the NHL – two from each conference – fighting for a spot in the Stanley Cup Final.

The latest: The Carolina Hurricanes and Vegas Golden Knights are the favourites to emerge from their respective conferences. Neither holds a commanding odds lead over their opponent, however, making these an intriguing pair of series.

Here are the latest NHL Conference Finals odds as of May 17.

Eastern Conference final odds

Team Odds (May 17)
Carolina Hurricanes -124
Florida Panthers +105

NHL odds as of 1:34 p.m. on 05/17/2023.

Best Eastern Conference final odds

Hurricanes (-124)

The Hurricanes are the favourites to win the Eastern Conference with home-ice advantage on its side.

In fact, the road to the Stanley Cup flows through Raleigh as Carolina had the second-best record in the NHL during the regular season. The team is continuing to find success despite missing two key offensive contributors in Andrei Svechnikov and Max Pacioretty.

No team averaged more goals per game (4.80) than Carolina during the second round of the playoffs.

The team is strong defensively, allowing the fewest shots per game (27.8) and goals per game (2.55) of any squad remaining.

Frederik Andersen is rising to the occasion between the pipes, posting a .931 and a 5-0-0 record this postseason

Other Eastern Conference final odds

Panthers (+105)

It’s hard to say there’s a task too tall for Florida.

After all, the Panthers slayed the juggernaut Boston Bruins in the first round of the playoffs and quickly ousted the Toronto Maple Leafs in five games. Defying the odds is simply what they’ve managed to do all postseason long.

Against a team as defensively sound as Carolina, the Cats will once again need Sergei Bobrovsky to elevate his game. The netminder had an otherworldly .943 save percentage against Toronto.

Matthew Tkachuk will need to step up, also. Although he didn’t receive much criticism for his shortcomings, he finished the series versus the Maple Leafs with zero goals and five assists.

Western Conference final odds

Team Odds (May 17)
Vegas Golden Knights -132
Dallas Stars +112

Best Western Conference final odds

Golden Knights (-132)

Vegas continues to find a way to win despite having no stability in net.

Adin Hill took over for an injured Laurent Brossoit against the Edmonton Oilers and was up to the task. Hill had a .934 save percentage in five games versus Edmonton, going 3-1-0 in the series.

Jack Eichel found his game, also, amassing nine points in six games against the Oilers.

The Golden Knights are a deep bunch offensively and defensively, making it very difficult to spot many holes in their game.

Other Western Conference final odds

Stars (+112)

Dallas’ edge over the rest of the field is supposedly goaltending, but Jake Oettinger will need to be better.

None of the goaltenders remaining with the exception of Oettinger are first to mind when thinking about the game’s very best. Funnily enough, Oettinger’s .903 save percentage in the playoffs is the worst among all starting goalies remaining.

His .927 career save percentage in the postseason, however, paints a more accurate picture of his level of play. The Stars will need him to post numbers similar to those if they want to win.

They’ll also need Roope Hintz to continue producing. The speedy forward is second in playoff scoring (19 points) and his offence was key to the team’s success in the second round. Dallas was 4-0 when Hintz scored a point and 0-3 when he didn’t.
