Partner Content | MLB parlay picks April 24: Fade Yankees, back Alex Verdugo

A pair of non-Blue Jays AL teams factor into tonight’s MLB parlay picks.

The pregame narrative: We’re fading the Yankees’ offence against one of the league’s hottest pitchers, and we like Red Sox slugger Alex Verdugo to notch at least one hit. Also, the Braves are a worthwhile moneyline pick whenever Spencer Strider toes the rubber.

MLB parlay picks

Parlay: Braves ML + Yankees under 3.5 runs + Verdugo to record 1+ hits (+246)

Braves moneyline (-265) : Spencer Strider is the type of pitcher you want to hitch your wagon to right now.

The moustachioed fireballer has the lowest hits-per-9 (4.9) in the NL and the highest K/9 (14.7) in the majors. In the process, he’s put together a 2.45 ERA and the Braves have won all four of his starts.

In fact, dating back to last season, Atlanta has won 10 of his past 11 starts.

Tonight, Strider will make his first career start against the Marlins. We’re not worried about the Braves’ four-game active losing streak. They have a better OPS than Miami (.763 to .701) and a better bullpen ERA (3.61 to 3.77). And, of course, they have Strider.

Other parlay picks

Yankees under 3.5 runs (-121) : Three-fifths of Toronto’s starting rotation had its way with New York over the weekend, and now one of the hottest pitchers in baseball will get to attack this slumping offence.

Minnesota’s Sonny Gray has been astoundingly good, allowing just two runs on 17 hits in 22 innings so far. Last year, he held the Yankees to one earned run in a 4-3 win.

The Yankees have scored fewer than four runs in eight of their past 10 games, averaging 3.2 runs per game in that span.

Verdugo to record 1+ hits (-275) : Verdugo has been worth counting on for a hit throughout most of the season’s first month, cashing on this prop in 18 of 23 games (78.3%). That includes eight of his past 10 games, a span in which he’s batting .342.

As a lefty against the right-hander O’s starter Dean Kremer, we especially like Verdugo with a platoon advantage.

Verdugo has a .297 career batting average against righties, and he’s 6-for-16 so far against Kremer.
