Partner Content | Game 3 Astros vs. Phillies World Series prop picks: Bet on Realmuto to deliver
With the World Series split at 1-1 either the Houston Astros or Philadelphia Phillies can claim the upper hand with a win on Tuesday.
The pregame narrative: J.T. Realmuto has been the Phillies’ top offensive weapon recently, Jose Altuve has been righting the ship in the World Series and Jeremy Pena is usually a good bet to produce multiple bases against lefties.
Here are our Astros vs. Phillies prop picks for Game 3 of the World Series on November 1.
Odds as of 9:50 a.m. ET on 11/1/2022.
Game 3 Astros vs. Phillies prop picks
[Best Bet] : Realmuto over 1.5 total bases (+140)
Although Bryce Harper has stolen the headlines for the Phillies during their playoff run, Realmuto has been their most dangerous man lately.
The star catcher leads his team in hits (three) and OPS (1.319) through the first two games of the World Series and delivered a crucial home run in Game 1.
That’s all small-sample-size stuff, but the reality is that the catcher has been rolling for some time now. In the second half of the season, Realmuto slashed .307/.367/.583, good for a 162 wRC+ and the eighth-best number among all qualified hitters.
These odds are generous for a hitter who has produced at a superstar level for months, especially considering his success at Citizens Bank Park this season.
Split | AVG | OBP | SLG | wRC+ |
Home | .314 | .368 | .541 | 151 |
Away | .237 | .316 | .414 | 105 |
Realmuto will also benefit from facing a pitcher in McCullers who runs reverse splits. Right-handed hitters managed a .712 OPS against the starter this season while left-handers’ OPS was just .555.
Key stat: Realmuto has produced multiple bases in three of his last four games, producing 13 total bases in that span.
Quick picks
Altuve over 0.5 runs (+107): The star second baseman’s playoff numbers are far from pretty, but he seems to have course corrected in the World Series, going 4-for-9 in the first two games.
He’ll also be helped by seeing southpaw Ranger Suarez on Tuesday. Altuve hit an astonishing .340/426/.660 against left-handers this season — good for a 209 wRC+.
This is excellent value for the run prop of a leadoff man atop an elite lineup. The Astros have scored five or more runs in four straight games. If they do so again, there’s a good chance Altuve will cross the plate.
Pena over 1.5 bases (+125): The rookie shortstop has been one of the Astros’ most consistent offensive producers during the playoffs, slashing .286/.302/.619 and winning the ALCS MVP award.
His combination of power and inability — or at least disinclination — to draw walks makes him an appealing choice on total bases props.
Pena is especially appealing in this matchup because, like Altuve, he was a lefty masher this season. The 25-year-old produced a 131 wRC+ against southpaws and slugged .493.
