Partner Content | Celtics vs. 76ers same-game parlay, Game 4: Back Embiid to regain offensive consistency

After a tight loss at home in Game 1, the Boston Celtics have awoken with a pair of dominant wins over the Philadelphia 76ers.

The pregame narrative: Boston is in a decent position to take a 3-1 series lead, but we’ve teased the spread a bit to account for another closely-contested loss. We’re also backing Joel Embiid to stay heavily involved on offence and for Malcolm Brogdon to collect multiple threes for a fourth straight game.

Check out our +340 Celtics vs. 76ers same-game parlay picks for May 7.

76ers vs. Celtics same-game parlay picks

Parlay: Celtics +4 + Embiid over 25.5 points + Brogdon over 1.5 threes (+255)

Celtics +4 (-245) : Without MVP Joel Embiid, the 76ers overcome a second-half deficit in Game 1 to defeat the Celtics in Boston. But in the two games since — with Embiid in the lineup — Philly has suffered a pair of double-digit losses.

Make that make sense.

We’re not sure we can, but the answer could be as simple as, “Boston is really, really good.” After all, we’re talking about last year’s Eastern Conference champs, who lead the playoffs in net rating (8.0) … after leading the regular season in net rating (6.7).

By giving some points to the Celtics, we’ve put them in a spot in which they’ve covered all seven matchups against the Sixers this year. Boston has five outright wins in that span, and its losses came by four and two points, respectively.

Boston has covered this particular number in 25 of its past 27 games.

Other parlay legs

Embiid over 25.5 points (-215) : As the 76ers try to avoid dropping consecutive home games, we expect Embiid to ensure his fingerprints are all over the offensive game plan.

After sitting Game 1, Embiid scored just 15 points on nine field goal attempts in Game 2. But then on Friday he dropped 30 on 9-of-19 shooting.

Given that Embiid averaged 20.1 shot attempts per game during the regular season, we’re writing off his Game 1 shot volume as a blip for a guy returning from injury. He’s still listed as questionable on today’s injury report, but it’s difficult to imagine him playing a reduced role in such an important game.

Also, Embiid has topped this 25.5-point mark in five of six matchups against the Celtics this year.

Brogdon over 1.5 threes (-175) : Brogdon is attempting threes at a very consistent clip, and he’s cashed this line in all three playoff matchups against the Sixers.

The overqualified sixth man is 11-for-22 from deep against Philly, which will hopefully encourage him to keep firing. He’s attempted at least five 3-pointers in each of his past five games.

Opponents are cashing 13.0 threes per game against the Sixers in the postseason — up from 11.6 per game during the regular season.
