Partner Content | Blue Jays vs. Mets prop bets: Bet on Belt to record a hit

A series sweep is in play when the Toronto Blue Jays take on the New York Mets today.

The pregame narrative: Toronto won the first two games of this series and will now have to contend with Kodai Senga if it wants to break out the brooms. We’re backing the Mets’ starter to clear his strikeout prop but are also taking Brandon Belt to record a hit.

Check out our best Blue Jays vs. Mets prop bets for June 4.

Blue Jays vs. Mets prop bets

Best Bet : Belt over 0.5 hits (-113)

Getting Belt to record a knock at these odds is practically a must-hit.

The veteran designated hitter is far from a batting champion but he’s still slashing a respectable .262/.385/.400 over 42 games. Those numbers are also buoyed by a disastrous April where Belt recorded a total of nine hits in 55 at-bats.

Since then, Belt is batting .338/.484/.493 in 25 games played, clearing this line 17 times. He’s also coming off a two-hit game where he netted a pair of doubles.

Getting the best of Senga won’t be easy — the Mets hurler has allowed just 10 hits across his last 18.0 IP — but from a value standpoint, this is too good to pass up.

Some of Belt’s teammates like George Springer (-250) Matt Chapman (-195) and Whit Merrifield (-195) all have far more juiced-up odds to record a knock even though he’s been out-producing them for the last month.

Key stat: Belt has a hit in seven of his last 10 games.

Quick picks

Senga over 6,5 strikeouts (+132) : We mentioned earlier how good of a job Senga is doing at suppressing hits. A lot of that has to do with his ability to rack up Ks. The 30-year-old MLB newcomer owns a 29.8% strikeout rate which ranks in the 85th percentile, according to Baseball Savant.

He’s cleared this line in three of his past four games, averaging 8.5 punchouts in those contests.

The Blue Jays aren’t typically an easy team to strike out but the Mets have been able to sit them down in this series with 19 punchouts across two games.
