A Hindu doctor in Pakistan was killed in Karachi by unknown assailants on Thursday.
The victim is identified as Dr Birbal Genani who was killed near Layari when he was returning home from his clinic, reports from Pakistan media said. He was a former Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) senior director of health and eye specialist.
Dr Birbal Genani and his assistant lady doctor were on their way to Gulshan-e-Iqbal from Ramswamy when unidentified men targeted their car near Garden interchange on the Lyari Expressway, cops said. While Genani died on the spot, his assistant sustained bullet injuries.
The incident was caught on CCTV footage and the clips of the incident have gone viral.
After receiving information about the incident, the police and the rescue officials reached the site and took the body and the injured to the hospital, Geo News reported. The CCTV footage of the incident shows Dr Genani’s car moving uncontrollably and smashing into a wall.

On the other hand, Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori mourned the death of the doctor and sought a report regarding the incident from the additional inspector general of Karachi police.
It may be recalled that authorities in Pakistan’s southern province of Sindh last Saturday suspended a police officer for harassing, manhandling, and arresting Hindus for allegedly “violating” a law forbidding eating or drinking in public during the holy month of Ramzan, according to a media report.
The action was taken when a video went viral showing Station House Officer (SHO) Kabil Bhayo of the Khanpur police station in the Ghotki district going around with a stick in hand and hitting some shoppers, including Hindu men who were reportedly preparing biryani for delivery to customers, reported The Express Tribune newspaper.
