Pre-Match Analysis:
Pakistan were never in the hunt while chasing a tricky score of 261 in the 2nd ODI and gave up the match quite easily as they bowled out for just 182 runs, losing the match by 79 runs. Shot selection, soft dismissals, and poor running between the wickets are the major reasons for their loss. Babar Azam’s valiant effort of 79 runs went in vain in the end. The batters should be blamed for the loss as the bowlers once again came up with special performances with Mohammad Nawaz picking up 4 wickets while pacer Naseem Shah bagged 3 scalps. Imam-ul-Haq is under the radar as he managed to score 17 runs in this series. Agha Salman has got all the qualities to become a regular member of the ODIs.
Devon Conway’s 2nd ODI century and combined bowling performances helped New Zealand to level the series 1-1 to take it to the decider which is to be played on Friday. Conway and skipper Williamson made batting look so simple, adding 181 runs for the 2nd wicket and later they lost 9 wickets for just 80 runs with only Mitchell Santner showing courage at the death by scoring 37 runs. Playing additional spinner worked well as Ish Sodhi bagged 2 wickets. They were brilliant on the field and converted half-chances which all added to their win.
