Ozzy Osbourne has revealed he would prefer to be played by an unknown actor in his upcoming biopic rather than a famous star like Johnny Depp.

The Black Sabbath star, 73, will be the subject of an upcoming biopic charting his whirlwind relationship with his wife Sharon Osbourne.

The film will look at Ozzy’s life between 1979 and 1996, with the project having been confirmed to be in the works in 2020.

The official announcement came last October, when it was revealed Lee Hall, the writer behind Billy Elliott and Elton John’s Rocketman biopic, would be writing the script, while the couple’s eldest daughter Aimee prepared the treatment.

While there have been no casting announcements as yet, Ozzy revealed in a new interview that he would prefer the role to go to an unknown actor.

He told Consequence: ‘I don’t want to have anyone like Johnny Depp act as me. I rather have someone who is relatively unknown.’

The biopic won’t shy away from Ozzy’s past drug and alcohol addictions as well as the darker moments in his marriage to Sharon.

Ozzy admitted he doesn’t care about the darker sides of his life being shown on screen, adding: ‘I don’t give a s**t.

‘I mean, if it’s a success, great. As long as it’s not too slurpy and bulls**tty, you know?’

Sharon previously revealed that it will be a lot more ‘warts and all’ than Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody biopic, adding: ‘We don’t want it to be squeaky, shiny clean and all of that. We’re not making it for kids. It’s an adult movie for adults.’

As well as his biopic, Ozzy and Sharon are also set to document their move back to the UK from the US for a new reality series for the BBC.

The rock star admitted that he is not so keen to leave America, revealing: ‘To be honest with you, if I had my way, I’d stay in America. I’m American now.’
