Overwhelming response at Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University confirms students want to be job-ready – Times of India

Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU), which began its admission process for the first academic session last week, is getting an overwhelming response from students. “On day one of the admission, close to 400 students registered on the admission portal for various degree and diploma level courses,” says Neharika Vohra, vice chancellor, DSEU.

The University opened applications on July 6 for 15 diploma courses in the creative economy and engineering fields; 12 degree courses in a variety of domains; six BTech courses; and two master’s level courses.

The skill university aims to impart course curriculum as per the industry requirements and will help students to be job-ready. “Irrespective of domain or course, students will be prepared to face real-life challenges since the day one of their course. The focus will be on the holistic development of students at affordable costs and prepare them to be market-ready even if they opt for exit option as conceptualised in the new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020,” says Vohra.

Campus preparation

In view of the unprecedented situation, DSEU is preparing for online, offline and blended mode of teaching-learning methods. “With the advancement of technology, hands-on-training might not be a challenge for students. We are in consultation with experts to have virtual lab facility to deal with any adverse situation,” says Vohra adding that the University aims to prepare job-ready students by integrating employability and life skills among them.

Exam pattern

For admission to diploma courses, the University will conduct a home-based AI-proctored test on August 8 where students will be asked multiple-choice-questions (MCQ) related to Math, Science and English of class X level. “Candidates can write the admission test from the comfort of their homes or any safe location. They may use their desktop, laptop or smartphone as per the requirement. We are also arranging centre-based online test for candidates who have zero access to digital infrastructure,” says Vohra.

To familiarise students with the test pattern, there will be mock tests from July 28 to August 6. Admission to BTech courses will be done based on JEE Main score. For MCA and MTech (Tool Engineering), the University will offer admission on the basis of NIT MCA Common Entrance Test (NIMCET) and GATE score, respectively.

Scholarships

Needy candidates will be offered all sort of financial help to pursue their education once selected. “The University will assist such candidates in getting scholarships, freeships, education loan, and benefits from various government schemes so that they will not be left behind,” adds Vohra. The University will also offer optional interest-profile test to selected students to help them identify their area of interest and choose the programme accordingly.
