Over 1.1 lakh candidates to appear for CUET-UG on final day – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Other than those whose exams were cancelled due to technical glitches or centre issues, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has allotted the August 30 date to around 30,000 candidates for reasons such as clash of dates with other tests, requests for addition of subjects, date change due to health reason, city change for personal reasons and natural calamity.
On the final day of the Common University Entrance Test-Undergraduate (CUET-UG) on Tuesday, over 1.1 lakh candidates will take the exam.
The exam started on July 15 and ran into rough weather in the two subsequent phases of the six-phase undergraduate admission test for 92 universities due to technical issues and centre failing security protocols, including suspected sabotage.
According to NTA , in the first five phases of CUET-UG 2022, around 12.04 lakh candidates took the test.
A total of 15 lakh candidates had registered for the test.
As per data accessed by the TOI for the last day of the exam, around 80,000 candidates will be writing the test due to cancellation of the exam in earlier phases. The NTA has also accepted requests for 1,250 cases for change of dates due to clash of exams.
In addition, 23 candidates were allowed addition of subject, 17,707 candidates were allowed date, city and centre change for other reasons and 787 candidates were allotted August 30 who could not take the test earlier due to natural calamity.
“My exams were scheduled for August 20 and 24 in Gwalior. However, I had to travel to Tripura on August 16 and 17 for my migration and transfer certificates and Guwahati for a skill proficiency test on August 24 and 25. NTA changed the date to August 30. Else I would have never been able to take the test,” said Santosh Singh Tomar.
“I chose Guwahati as my centre earlier. I am from a remote area in Tripura, around 80 kilometres from Agartala. But due to personal reasons I came back home and cannot travel to Guwahati now to take the test due to financial reasons. I am happy that my exam has not only been rescheduled but also they allowed me to take the exam in Agartala,” said a candidate on condition of anonymity.
While all the subjects opted by many candidates who received updated admit cards were listed, NTA said that the candidates need to write only those papers for which they faced technical issues.
“Instructions regarding the same will also be displayed during the examination on August 30, 2022 to the concerned candidates. It has been mentioned in the admit cards as well,” said Vineet Joshi, director general, NTA.
The exams are being conducted in 489 examination centres located in 259 cities across India and in 13 languages.
