Oti Mabuse couldn’t be more proud of Strictly Come Dancing pro Jowita Przystal who has made history after winning this year’s series.

The professional dancer ended up carrying the glitterball trophy with Countryfile star Hamza Yassin, beating the likes of Helen Skelton and Fleur East to win the series.

It means Jowita, who is new to Strictly and joined the show with this series, has become the first female professional dancer in her first year to win.

Perhaps no one was more happy about her achievement than former Strictly pro and two-time winner Oti, 32, who wrote in an Instagram post: ‘SHE IS STRICTLY THE GREATEST DANCER!!!!! @jowitaprzystal has made history never ever ever ever ever in the history of strictly has a FEMALE PRO in her first year WON the show!!!!

‘SOOOOOOOO PROUD YESSSSSSSS QUEEN JOWITAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA (can’t stop crying ???? ????????) @hamzayassin90 massive congratulations ???? a big huge one for you and for your family and africa!!!’

She added: ‘The two of you are spectacular just out of this world ⭐️… #femaleempowerment #girlpower #jowita.’

Oti’s sister and Strictly judge Motsi Mabuse agreed and commented: ‘Queens calling out queens what we need.’

Author Bobby Seagull chimed in: ‘Congrats Jowita! From the moment we saw her in the Greatest Dancer, we knew she was special. She brought out the best in Hamza.’

Jowita, 28, may be the first female pro to break the record but she is the fifth professional overall to have won in their first year, following on from Brendon Cole in series 1, Darren Bennett in series 2, Artem Chigvintsev in series 8 and Aljaz Skoranjec in series 11.

After being crowned the winner, Jowita said emotionally: ‘Anything is possible, he’s just the proof.’

‘He worked hard and he made it,’ she said, thanking the whole Strictly team.

Hamza, 32, then revealed the three bits of advice he had been told by a choreographer: ‘One, surround yourself with people whose eyes light up when they see you come in.

‘Two, the top of one mountain is the bottom of the next so keep climbing.

‘And three, slowly is the fastest way to get where you want to be.’

Jowita couldn’t help but shower Hamza in praise, adding: ‘His gentle soul, his kindness, his strength, his ability of lifting me up, and I think he did it so well.

‘I need to tell you, I’m so proud of you that you didn’t stop, and you continued and made it happen.

‘I’m so proud.’
