Only Fools and Horses-style Reliant Regan hits auction for eye-watering sum
AN ONLY Fools and Horses-style Reliant Regan has been placed on auction for an eye-watering sum – but there is a catch.
The iconic three-wheeler van, owned in the series by Trotter’s Independent Traders, is on sale with a number of accessories.
They include Derek Trotter’s sheepskin coat, hapless brother Rodney’s camouflage jacket and a blow-up doll made famous by the classic episode Danger UXD.
In the hilarious episode, the Trotters are left with 50 dodgy self-inflating dolls filled with explosive propane gas.
The vehicle was regularly used by aka Derek “Del Boy” Trotter, played by David Jason, and his younger brother Rodney, played by Nicholas Lyndhurst.
The car is expected to fetch £11,000 at auction.
But the three-wheeler is a replica, rather than the original vehicle used in the hugely popular comedy series.
Simon Langsdale who sourced the car for CCA, said: “This excellent little van is sure to put a smile on the face of its new owner.
“It is a well-crafted reproduction of Derek Trotter’s famous yellow van.
“In the language of the show this is surely the very meaning of ‘lovely jubbly’. The vehicle is based in the Hertfordshire area.”
It is up for auction with Classic Car Auctions Online Sale with an estimated auction price of £9,000 – £11,000
Finished in the classic faded yellow with a black vinyl interior it comes absolutely packed with attention to detail, complete with the roof-mounted suitcase and, of course, the blow-up doll.
It has just over 50,000 miles indicated and is supplied with a small history file with old MOTs and some invoices.
It has recently benefitted from a service and is described as driving well for its advancing years.
The van will go on sale between 3pm-5pm on Friday, July 28, on www.classiccarauctions.co.uk
