Official Apple warning for all iPhone users – never ignore this alert

WE get plenty of notifications on our phones every day but there are a few you should never ignore.

This includes an alert from Apple that can pop up when you charge your iPhone.

This particular alert can come in two forms.

One is “Charging not available” and the other is “Liquid detected in Lightning Connector.”

The “Charging not available” Apple warning states: ” Liquid has been detected in the Lightning connector.

“Disconnect to allow the connector to dry. This may take several hours.”

Whereas, the “Liquid detected in Lightning Connector” Apple warning reads: “Disconnect to allow the connector to dry. This may take several hours.”

You can receive this warning if you have an iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR or a newer iPhone than these models.

The alerts usually mean liquid has been detected in your Lightning port or in your charging cable.

They can also mean you’re using a damaged Lightning cable or accessory.

If you’re sure your iPhone is dry, try a new cable.

If it is wet, Apple built in a feature to stop charging from being possible until you’ve dried your iPhone.

You can override this charging block in an emergency but you risk seriously damaging your iPhone.

Apple explains: “If you charge your iPhone while the Lightning port is wet, the pins on the Lightning port or the cable can corrode and cause permanent damage or stop functioning, causing connectivity issues for your iPhone or accessory.

“Although you shouldn’t charge your iPhone when it’s wet, you might need to in an emergency.

“If you reconnect your iPhone to the Lightning cable or accessory, you have the option in an emergency to override the liquid detection and charge your iPhone.”

You can still use wireless charging after you get the liquid detected alerts but drying your iPhone in a safe manner should be your priority.

One of the safest ways to dry an iPhone is tapping out excessive liquid on your hand and then leaving the device to air dry.
