Office worker transforms his cubicle into a dreamy mountain cabin

With more and more workers returning to the office, desk-scaping will be in full swing.

Ikea will be hit, followed by a quick stop at The Range, and soon dreary office spaces everywhere will be filled with fake plants.

However, if you want to make your workspace more exciting than a couple of cacti, we have found the ultimate decorating inspiration.

Office worker Lucas Mundt has transformed his workspace cubicle into a mountain cabin.

With wood panelling, a stove and stuffed moose heads, he brought the mountains to the office at drinkware firm Simple Modern in Moore, Oklahoma, USA.

Lucas, 36, got the all clear from his boss, Mike Beckham, 42, to upgrade his cubicle.

Lucas covered the walls and floor of his cubby in dark wood panelling and added a matching wooden desk area too.

For an even more mountainous feel, there’s a bearskin rug, plush moose heads, a light-up fireplace and a candelabra to illuminate the area in warm light.

Sadly, it’s not all play for Lucas – he still has three monitors to work from, but has made the space calmer by adding a desktop wallpaper depicting a beautiful mountain scene.

All the while his surround sound speakers play bird songs and the sound of flowing water.

Lucas also added a sticker to one wall, of a window showing a lakeside view, and placed more stickers of mountains to the transparent screens that separate the cubicles.

‘I came up over the weekend so that I could finish it before anyone would see it,’ the logistics analyst says.

‘I didn’t keep close track of the time, but I would estimate it took ten to twelve hours. No regrets.

‘I was a little vague when asking, I asked if it was ok to “decorate my cubicle a little” – little is subjective here!

‘Then I checked to see if there were any impending office moves before committing to this.’

CEO Mike says he was ‘blown away’ by his worker’s creativity.

‘I was just blown away by the creativity and commitment it took to bring a Colorado cabin to life in a cubicle.’ he explained.

‘I also loved that he felt the freedom and desire to bring all of himself to work.

‘Everyone loves it. Several people have been brainstorming how they can add their own personal touch to their offices and cubicles.’
