Odisha plans to verify certificate of medical practitioners by May 31 – Times of India

BHUBANESWAR: Acting on an Orissa High Court order to identify fake medical practitioners, the state government on Thursday came out with a plan to verify the certificates of the doctors by May 31.
Health secretary Shalini Pandit in a letter to all chief district medical and public health officers (CDMPHOs) along with other officials urged them to issue notice to all allopathic doctors to submit a self-attested copy of the valid medical registration certificate along with degree/PG/super specialisation certificates in a proper format.
According to the notice, the allopathic doctors will submit their certificates to the concerned authorities by March 10. The CDMPHOs will submit a consolidated report along with the list of non-respondents to the director of health services (DHS), Odisha and a list of doubtful cases to the registrar, Odisha Council of Medical Registration (OCMR) for verification by March 31.
Allopathic doctors working in government and private medical colleges and hospitals (MCHs), private nursing homes, clinics, and hospitals (more than 30 beds) before the directorate of medical education and training (DMET), Odisha by March 10. DMET Odisha will submit a consolidated report along with the list of non-respondents to DHS and a list of doubtful cases to the registrar, OCMR for verification by March 31.
A report on the verification of doubtful certificates by OCMR will be obtained from different universities around the globe by May 7. DHS, OCMR and DMET will submit the consolidated report to the department by May 15. The reports will be analysed by a committee constituting the special secretary of the department along with DHS, OCMR and DMET by May 25.
The department will upload the final list on various websites by May 31. “It is requested to adhere to the timeline strictly so as to comply with the order of the high court,” said Pandit in her letter.
