Odia University to be inaugurated in July first week – Times of India

BHUBANESWAR: Finally, the state government has decided to inaugurate Odia University at Satyabadi in Puri district by first week of July. The higher education department has also decided that it will complete the admission process for this academic session before the inauguration.
Though chief minister Naveen Patnaik had laid the foundation stone of the university on October 9, 2018, work of this university was progressing at a snail’s pace. Recently, a high-level meeting was conducted for early functionalization of the university and to start admission in the institution from this academic session.
According to the decision, a Common PG Entrance Test (CPET) will be conducted by the higher education department for admission into the Odia University in three subjects- Odia language and literature, Linguistics and natural language processing and Regional, Tribal Language and Heritage Studies.
The admission process will be completed by the end of this month. As the university will be inaugurated by the first week of July, the process of conducting the entrance test and admission process will be completed by the first week of July, said Birendra Korkora, special secretary of the higher education department in a letter to the performance tracking cell of the department.
The department has also written a letter to the general manager of the Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC) to frame a dynamic, high standard and dedicated official website for Odia University. As the university will be inaugurated by the first week of July, the website will be framed by the end of this month, said the official letter.
The university is coming up at 25 acres of land near the Satyabadi Bana Vidyalaya, established by the famous Panchasakha – Pandit Gopabandhu Das, Acharya Harihar Das, Pandit Nilakantha Das, Krupasindhu Mishra and Godavarish Mishra. The Bana Vidyalaya was teaching students about patriotism, service to mankind, to become a good human being and nationalism.
Around 10 acres of land has already been acquired and construction is underway. In the first phase, classrooms, hostels, an administrative block, a library and other basic facilities will be developed to start the classes,” said an official.
This institution will promote research and higher studies in Odia language and literature. It will offer research activities in various subjects related to language, literature, linguistics and historical scripts.
