Oakland A’s fan storms field, runs bases — and no one cares enough to stop him

The cellar-dwelling A’s got some unexpected excitement on the field at Oakland Coliseum — but it had nothing to do with the team.

On Monday, a TikTok user posted a video of an A’s fan at a recent game storming the field and circling the bases in reverse order while the grounds crew and security did little to stop them.

The fan jumped onto the field down the left-field line by the bullpen and made a beeline to the second base bag.

The grounds crew, either distracted or unbothered by the trot, did nothing to stop the fan as they touched first and then headed to home plate.

Only after the trespasser got near third base did security and the workers on the field attempt to stop the jaunt.

Even after their half-hearted attempts to stop the fan, the runner climbed back into the stands unescorted.

It was a more serene situation than the one that took place last week when over a dozen fans brawled outside the stadium entrance.

It’s been a tumultuous year in Oakland, where the A’s are floundering with a 12-45 record and a minus-193 run differential, putting them on track to potentially top the infamous 1962 Mets’ Major League record of 120 losses.

They did, however, win the first two games of their series against the Braves.

But aside from the on-field issues, the A’s appear on a course to move to Las Vegas.

Last week, Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo announced a tentative deal to lure the A’s with a new 30,000-seat stadium with a retractable roof.

“We’re very appreciative of the support from the State of Nevada and Clark County’s leadership,” A’s president Dave Kaval said in a statement.

The A’s are at the bottom in attendance this year, drawing under 9,000 fans per game, according to ESPN’s figures.
