NVIDIA DLSS, AMD FSR and Intel XeSS Can Be Easily Supported at the Same Time, Nixxes Graphics Programmer Says

Upscaling tech such as NVIDIA DLSS, AMD FSR, and Intel XeSS have become game changers for PC titles as they allow players to enjoy smoother performance without compromising visual quality too much, but not all titles support all three, as AMD Sponsored games, such as the Resident Evil 4 remake and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, only support AMD’s tech.

While more confirmation that AMD titles not supporting DLSS or XeSS is only due to marketing reasons was definitely not needed, Nico van Bentum, Graphics Programmer at Nixxes Software, essentially confirmed how supporting all upscalers at once is not difficult at all, as all three APIs are very similar nowadays. This is why modding DLSS and XeSS support into games supporting FSR 2 is easy to do, and so is the contrary.

One of the biggest games launching this year, Bethesda’s Starfield, may not support NVIDIA DLSS natively, as the game is an AMD sponsored release, like the aforementioned Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. While it has yet to be confirmed if the massive open-world game by the creators of The Elder Scrolls series will not support NVIDIA’s upscaler, modders already confirmed they will come to the rescue, as PureDark confirmed that they will add DLSS 3 support during the game’s early access period, with DLSS 2 support getting added some time after the game launched.

Recently, we got in touch with AMD to learn why NVIDIA DLSS and Intel XeSS are usually not supported by their sponsored titles. You can check out their response by going here.
