Nursery admission: JSR admin to oversee lottery process – Times of India
Jamshedpur: The district education department will keep tabs on the admission process in private schools in East Singhbhum district. Admission to nursery and LKG classes in all the schools for 2023-24 academic session will be done through lottery to avoid any kind of malpractice.
District education officer Nirmala Kumari Barelia on Tuesday said: “Like last few years, to keep the admission process in 72 schools transparent, this time, too lottery system will be followed.” She added the lottery will be held between January 6 and January 20 as per convenience of different schools.
Every school has to declare the results on the day the lottery is done, which is either done manually or digitally, she said.
To avoid any kind of irregularities, the lottery is performed by each school in the presence of an observer appointed by the education department and also a set of parents, who have filled in forms for the admission of their children.
The whole process will be videographed, said the education officer.
The software used by the schools for this lottery will also be checked by the appointed officers of the department as it involves the academic future of several thousands of children, who have filled the application forms.
Principal of Bistupur-based Narbheram Hansraj English School (NHES), Paramita Roy Chaudhury, said the school has received more than 500 applications for the 100-odd seats in nursery class. The selection will be done by lottery system and results would be declared on the day itself as per the guidelines of the administration.
Director of Kerala Public Schools, Srikanth Nair, too, confirmed that results of admission to the entry-level classes will be declared on the day lottery is done.
The schools which rank high in the list in Steel City have application forms in thousands.
In the past after the adoption of the lottery system for the admission in entry-level classes of private schools, parents of many unsuccessful candidates had alleged that there were several loopholes in the admission process.
Acting on the allegations levelled by the parents, the administration had directed the education department to ensure transparency in the whole process.
