NTA to set up 22 help centres to help CUET-UG 2023 aspirants to fill forms – Times of India
NEW DELHI: In order to help aspirants, especially from rural and remote areas, apart from the tele-helpline, the National Testing Agency (NTA) is setting up 22 examination help centres (EHCs) for the Common University Entrance Test-Undergraduate (CUET-UG) 2023. For foreign/ NRI/ OCI candidates, the University Grants Commission on Friday said that though they can take the test in 24 cities outside India, the aspirants are advised to check the policies regarding quota, category, relaxation, reservations, qualification, subject combinations, preferences etc. of the respective university/ institution/ organization website/s.
According to M Jagadesh Kumar, chairperson, UGC, each EHC will have one dedicated technical person in-charge who will be helping the candidates in filling the application form online. Advising that the candidates need not go to cyber cafes to fill the applications, Kumar said: “The candidates can go to their nearby help centre with the required documents and fill the form. The key objective of this is to ensure that candidates who want to appear for CUET (UG) – 2023 should be able to apply without any difficulty and get the necessary guidance, if required. Candidates need not go to any Cyber Cafe for filling their CUET (UG) – 2023 application.”
This helpline service is being provided free of cost and the details of these centres are available at the NTA website(s) http://nta.ac.in and https://cuet.samarth.ac.in
The online application deadline is March 12, 2023. Kumar added that the centres are set up to ensure more participation from candidates throughout India as well as “to create awareness among aspiring applicants and help provide equal opportunities to the candidates, especially from rural and remote areas.”
For foreign/ NRI/ OCI aspirants seeking admission in an Indian university which accepts CUET-UG score, the UGC chief said: “Foreign candidates, NRI, OCI candidates can also apply for CUET (UG) – 2023 and they can also appear in any of the above-mentioned cities outside India. However, all foreign candidates, NRI, OCI candidates are advised to visit website of the university/ institution/ organization where admission is sought and go through their relevant guidelines in this regard and be guided accordingly.”
The Commission also has informed all the universities through “Guidelines for Admission and Supernumerary seats of International Students in Undergraduate and Postgraduate Programmes in Higher Educational Institutions in India” on September 30, 2022 that HEIs may adopt a transparent admission process for admitting the international students. CUET score is not mandatory. The seats for foreign nationals in UG and PG programmes are 25% supernumerary seats. In the PhD program, each faculty member can take two additional students over and above the limit prescribed by UGC.
