NRL fan booted, charged for alleged ‘disgusting’ abuse
A fan was ejected during the Cowboys’ win over Wests Tigers on Sunday night, and later charged, for allegedly directing “disgusting” abuse at halfback Jackson Hastings, Nine’s Emma Lawrence reports.
The crowd member was escorted from Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium after Tigers playmaker Hastings drew an NRL official to a section of the crowd, with other match-goers singling out the alleged culprit.
The fan has been charged with disorderly conduct and Lawrence said the alleged comments, which were about Hastings’ family, were “derogatory”.

Hastings slotted a conversion from the right touchline in the 31st minute and immediately made a complaint to an NRL official.
“He points to the crowd. They were giving it to him,” said Fox League caller Andrew Voss.
“I’ll tell you what: it’s more than that. He’s putting in a complaint to the ground manager here. I don’t know whether something was thrown at him, but something more than just the normal… it’d have to be something exceptional to react in such a way.”
