Novak Djokovic predicts Alcaraz will win many French Open titles
Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic defeated the world number one Carlos Alcaraz at the French Open 2023 Semi Final on Friday. In the 3 hours 23 minute game, Djokovic defeated his injured opponent by a margin of 6-3, 5-7, 6-1, 6-1. The 36-year-old face off against Norway’s Casper Ruud on his seventh French Open final.
In the absence of defending champion Rafael Nadal owing to injuries, Djokovic and Alcaraz had emerged as the top contender for the Roland- Garros. The clash between titans was marred by an injury to Alcaraz as the Spaniard started to cramp in the right calf after the third set.
Speaking after winning the much anticipated match, Djokovic was all praise for the 21-year US Open champion. He said, “I told him that he’s got plenty of time and then I’m sure he’s gonna win Roland- Garros multiple times in the future and I’ve no doubt about it”
The Serbian added, “I mean he’s an amazing player who just possesses so much qualities, so dynamic so much power me shots, very complete player and he already has won a Grand Slam, is the youngest ever number one in the history of the game so you know there’s a lot to be excited about for him you know for the future but of course you know not the best way to end the match for him but respect for for him too, for hanging in there until the last point.”
“It was so even and it was you know, very demanding physically for both of us and things like that physically, cramps or whatever he was struggling with can happen and that’s it, you know. I wish I wish him fast recovery. I’m sure he will be back back strong.” Djokovic added
Djokovic will be eying his third French Open title and a record-breaking 23rd men’s Grand Slam crown. He has also become the oldest man in 93 years to reach the Roland-Garros final.
