Noel Gallagher’s health woes – once told he would ‘drop dead’ coming off meds
At 56 years old, the Wonderwall singer would have begun attending free NHS Health Checks for more than a decade.
In the UK, people are invited for a free NHS Health Check from the age of 40 until the age of 74.
Back in 2013, Noel told The Telegraph how he felt “all right” going in for the check but soon felt like he was “about to drop dead in the street” when he came out.
“I won’t go into it,” Noel continued, refusing to say what exactly gave him a fright.
He did, however, give away some clues when talking about his holiday with his children.
“I went on holiday with the kids, and I was getting out of a swimming pool with one of them in my hand and did my back in,” Noel shared.
“Then my doctor put me on these tablets – I won’t tell you what for – [and] told me that if I didn’t take them I would virtually drop dead.”
Without revealing too much, the musician diverted the subject: “But [I’ve] got tinnitus in my ear.”
Tinnitus
The NHS explains: “Tinnitus is the name for hearing noises that do not come from an outside source.”
Tinnitus can sound like:
- Ringing
- Buzzing
- Whooshing
- Humming
- Hissing
- Throbbing
- Music or singing.
The NHS adds: “You may hear these sounds in one or both ears, or in your head. They may come and go, or you might hear them all the time.”
Tinnitus isn’t the only health complaint Noel shared at the time.
The father-of-three added: “And I pulled two muscles in the back of my hand.”
Noel elaborated: “Not from playing the guitar; I cracked it on the side of something.
“And I bashed round the casing of the nerves. It was horrible. I couldn’t even put my hand in my pocket.”
Noel Gallagher is currently on the High Flying Birds tour across the UK.
