Noel Fielding spent his bank holiday weekend putting his artistic skillset to the test as he drew a tribute to the new king.

The Great British Bake Off co-presenter, 49, took to Instagram to show off his creations and revealed three drawings he had done of the coronation in crayon.

Posting one after the other, the trio of pictures mapped out the stages of Saturday’s royal proceedings in an array of colours and sketches.

In his last piece of artwork titled ‘The Lonely Prince x [sic],’ the star offered his interpretation of Prince Harry’s presence at the church service and his interactions with his family.

The image before that showed King Charles ahead of being officially crowned as he sat on a throne waiting for the headdress to be placed on him – and was captioned: ‘king Charles Golden Outfit and Sword x [sic].’

Next Noel expertly drew the king in the foreground of the picture surrounded by bishops as he introduced his mini-series to his Instagram followers with the caption: ‘Kings Charles x Crayon x love all the costumes x [sic].’

Fans were delighted by the actor and comedian’s efforts and left words of praise underneath the collection of drawings.

One penned: ‘beautiful! Happy corination. God Save the King [sic].’

Another said: ‘If you’re looking for a new occupation… I think you’d be a really fit for doing court room drawings [sic].’

‘These are so much better than the official photos will be [sic],’ a social media user chimed in after Noel shared his pieces.

His collection of crayon drawings came after The King’s coronation service at Westminster Abbey was watched by more than 18 million viewers in the UK – according to provisional figures.

The lavish ceremony on Saturday which saw Charles and Camilla crowned was broadcast simultaneously on a range of channels between about 11am and 1pm, including BBC One and Two, ITV and Sky News.

An average of 18.8 million people watched across 11 channels and services, with audience figures peaking at 20.4 million when the King was crowned just after midday, according to overnight ratings released by the research organisation Barb.

The figure is not quite as high as the ratings for the funeral service of the late Queen last September which was seen by 26.5 million people across more than 50 TV channels.
