As superhero franchises such as Marvel and DC gain more and more popularity, their merchandise also continues to grow in demand. This has resulted in the value of items such as rare comic books becoming astronomical, as demonstrated by recent research from money.co.uk.
Earlier this year it was reported that a rare Superman comic sold for a record breaking £2.5million, beating the previous record of £2.33million in 2014.
Figures like these show that comic books are a possible avenue for investment, due to their potentially high resale value further down the line.
In order to find the most valuable comic books around, the personal finance experts at money.co.uk collated a list of superheroes and surveyed eBay listings.
Through this research, they were able to determine which character has the highest reselling price on average.

Superman currently has the most expensive current listing on eBay, priced at a whopping £2,521,033.
Following closely behind is Batman, with the comic selling for £2,520,987.
Personal finance expert at money.co.uk, James Andrews commented on the findings and emphasised the value of these comics.
He said: “Comic books are not only carrying on the legacy of so many great fictional characters but are also increasing in value as time goes on.”
On Spider-Man, the first-placed character for median selling price, Mr Andrews said: “These results just go to show how valuable the superhero is to fans across the globe.”
Mr Andrews believes that this market for valuable comics will only grow stronger over time, especially considering the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in recent years.
He said: “Not only are comic books gaining more value than ever before, but the Marvel Cinematic Universe is one of the highest-grossing movie franchises of all time.
“It shows no signs of slowing down.”
