Fact Check
We broke down the clip into multiple keyframes and ran a reverse image search on a few of them. This led us to an Instagram post from September 2016. The post consisted of a longer version of the now-viral clip which shows the Bollywood actor interacting with fans after the viral bit takes place. The clip is not recent as claimed by social media users.
The Instagram post was made by the media outlet Bollywood Life. We also came across a report from the outlet regarding the video. The report mentioned that the incident occurred during the time when Shah Rukh Khan was filming for Imtiaz Ali’s “The Ring” (Jab Harry Met Sejal) in Amsterdam.
Taking a hint from the above findings we ran a keyword search that led us to several related media reports from 2016. As per a report by ABP Live, the incident occurred in Turkey when Shah Rukh was travelling across several places in Europe for the shoot. From an India Today report about the same incident we came across another Instagram post from Bollywood Life. In this clip, Shah Rukh Khan can be seen walking and briefly interacting with his fans when a man grabs the actor by his neck and as a reaction, Khan pushes him off.

Therefore, the claim that Shah Rukh Khan slapped a fan because he said ‘Dunki’ was a remake of the Malayalam movie ‘CIA’ is false. The video is seven-year old. Khan pushed off a man when the latter grabbed his neck during an interaction with fans in Turkey.
