NIRF Ranking 2021 in Odisha: SOA secures overall 37 NIRF rank, Utkal gets 87 rank among universities – Times of India

Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), a deemed to be university, has received 39th rank in overall category among top 100 institutions across the country. It has also improved its rank compared to its previous year’s performance (44th rank).

But the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela, which has been performing well and topping the state in overall category, received overall 41st rank against last year’s 32 rank. Another national institute IIT Bhubaneswar could not improve ranks of its previous years. This year it got 58th overall rank against 56th in 2020 and 46 in 2019.

Other institutions like Utkal University was in the rank band of 101-150, while CV Raman Global University, SCB Medical College and Hospital and VSSUT Burla were in the rank band of 151-200 in the overall category.

In university category, SOA secured 20th rank followed by KIIT (21st). SOA has been securing top rank among the universities of the state consecutively for six years. It had bagged 20th rank last year and 24th in 2019.

Utkal University has witnessed an improvement of ranks in NIRF’s university category. This year it has received 87th rank against last year’s 96th. In 2019, the university was in the rank band of 101-150. VSSUT Burla is in the rank band of 101-150, while CV Raman Global University, Centurion University of Technology and Management (CUTM) and Xavier University are in the rank band of 151-200.

In engineering category, NIT Rourkela and IIT Bhubaneswar got 20 and 28 ranks respectively. These institutions could not improve their previous year’s ranks 16 and 22 respectively. Other institutions were SOA (32 rank), KIIT (39), CV Raman Global University (100), VSSUT Burla (116), Silicon Institute of Technology (SIT) Bhubaneswar (163), CUTM (185) and IIIT Bhubaneswar (190).

SOA this year received 21st rank in medical category, while AIIMS Bhubaneswar got 31st rank. KIIT has received 36 rank followed by SCB Medical College and Hospital (39). In dental category, SOA and KIIT bagged 14 and 17 ranks respectively.

Research category is added this year for the first time, NIT Rourkela got 31 rank followed by IIT Bhubaneswar 43 rank.

In management category, KIIT received 31st rank followed by Xavier University 34th rank, IIM Sambalpur (61) and IMI Bhubaneswar (62). KIIT got 10th rank in Law category, while National Law University Cuttack secured 18th rank.

Not a single institution from Odisha secured a rank in college category. Similar situation was witnessed in pharmacy and architecture category.
