Ninja Theory Reveals Details For Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice Xbox Series X|S Update

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice recently got updated to take full advantage of the Xbox Series X|S consoles. The game’s developer Ninja Theory has now revealed more details about the update, and what that might mean its upcoming Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2.

In a new Xbox wire blog post, Ninja Theory’s social media manager Will Potter talked about how the team went about adding new effects such as ray tracing

“The Xbox One X Enhanced version of Hellblade was great but moving to Xbox Series X|S lets us really push the boundaries of what we can do with the game,” said Potter.

“Our starting point was to put everything on max settings, then make tweaks and additions from there. We were pleasantly surprised how great we could make this game look and run on Xbox Series X|S; the end result is even better than what we had hoped when we set out to make this update.”

The new update comes about three years after the game’s debut on the Xbox platform. While next-gen specific features are now being added to the game, Ninja Theory did not say much about its sequel, instead re-confirming that the upcoming game is being built with Unreal Engine 5.

The developer also confirmed that the updates are also coming to the PC version of the game, although the release window for the same wasn’t revealed. A statement on the game’s website reads:

“An update for the PC version of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is currently in development. There are no plans to bring this update to any other platform at this time.”

That pretty much crosses out any plans for ray tracing on PS5, although the game can be enjoyed on the system via backwards compatibility at 60fps, although at a lower resolution.

Hellblade Senua’s Sacrifice is out now on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S consoles. The game is also available on Xbox Game Pass for both PC and console.
