Next Bond producers ‘clash with Christopher Nolan in talks over his demands’

For some James Bond fans the idea of Christopher Nolan directing James Bond would be a dream come true.

The self-confessed 007 nut has allusions to the spy franchise throughout his movies and has previously said he’d like to helm a “reinvention” of the series.

Having recently released Oppenheimer, the acclaimed filmmaker will now be looking for his next project and it just so happens that EON Productions are in the midst of rebooting after Daniel Craig exited so explosively in No Time To Die.

World of Reel’s 007 sources have previously reported that Bond producer Barbara Broccoli is “zeroing in on Nolan” to helm the next instalment.

And now more details have been shared by the outlet including the filmmaker’s demands.

World of Reel reports that EON Productions and Amazon have “all of their eggs in one basket” for Nolan given that he wants to direct Bond and he’s one of the few filmmakers who delivers critically and commercially successful blockbusters by his name alone.

It’s rumoured the producers want him to write and direct two or three 007 movies and then executive produce beyond that.

However, there are reportedly a couple of things that Nolan demands which could “scuttle” the negotiations.

Firstly, Nolan prizes creative freedom for his Bond vision when Broccoli “rarely gives carte blanche to her filmmakers”.

Secondly, EON Productions want the usual modern reboot with a contemporary setting.

However, Nolan wants to directly adapt Ian Fleming’s novels in their 1950s settings, which has never been done in a way that’s properly faithful to the source material.
