New Scientist Live at ExCeL London Fatima Pervez Gumley House Convent School

On Friday 7th October to Sunday 9th October, there was an Science show, called New Scientist Live, held at ExCeL London for intrigued minds, young and old, to celebrate the wonders of Science.

The Science show had many  thought- provoking talks followed by experiences provided by people who have come from different universities and backgrounds. New Scientist Live has provided people with an insight to the possible future of Science.

10 o’clock signalled the beginning of awe- inspiring talk shows and interactive experiences, as a line of ticket-holders slowly entered, hastily taking their seats to listen to an  ambitious speech about dark matter or nuclear fusion, or to grasp the knowledge of future surgery or farming and agriculture.

The many stands advertised the ideas of the future, some mainly to advertise and sell products but most were for the purpose of learning, to inspire young minds to take their path in the field of Science. Most people appeared to be intrigued by the exhibitions offering 3D simulator experiences and virtual reality experiences.
However, the main parts of New Scientist Live were the shows. With different speakers every time to answer the unanswerable questions, the various topics of the shows made it truly unique and seeded the wondrous plant of inspirational Science in young people’s minds. Such intriguing shows should occur more often to motivate and encourage people-young and old- to take an interest in Science.

Science is a subject that all people should take interest in and attending this annual exhibition could encourage that.
