New Icelandic airline launches bargain US flights from the UK for just £139
A NEW Icelandic airline is offering cheap flights from the UK to the US for as little as £139.
Airline PLAY, which launched earlier this year, is celebrating its inaugural flights to the states in 2022 with the cheap fares which are available for the rest of the month.
The new airline takes the place of WOW Air, an Icelandic airline that offered UK-US fares for as little as £99, which went bust back in 2019.
The new bargain flights have launched from today, and can be booked until December 22.
Travelling from London Stansted, current flight routes include Washington DC and Boston.
Flights to Baltimore/Washington International Airport will launch from April 20 next year, and from May 11 to Boston Logan International Airport.
Tickets start from £139 to Washington and £169 to Boston one way, with a personal item included, although passengers will need to pay for extras such as baggage and legroom.
Travellers will also need to travel via Reykjavik in Iceland, with a short layover at the airport.
PLAY CEO Birgir Jónsson said: “Travellers around the world are hungry to venture to new destinations and we’re proud to expand PLAY’s service to the United States, offering both American and European travellers a new way to reach iconic destinations.
“With our reliable and affordable flights, travellers can enjoy their holiday destination rather than overspending on the flight to get there.”
PLAY isn’t the only airline launching bargain US flights right now.
Earlier this month, Aer Lingus launched its first direct flight from the UK to the US with flights from Manchester Airport to New York, JFK from £179.
And in the British Airways sale, passengers can bag return flights to New York from £326, and return flights to San Francisco from £343.
Here are the current travel rules for travelling to the US, as well as other popular holiday destinations.
