New homeowner finds 20-year-old safe hidden under carpet

Imagine finding a safe mysteriously hidden under your carpet – without a code to open it.

That’s what one new homeowner discovered, prompting her to force it open.

Liz has got everyone hooked on her videos of the unveiling, from when she initially uncovered the safe to the moment she finally managed to prise it open.

Posting on the video-sharing app, she said: ‘I bought a house in November and just found a hidden safe in the floor.

‘The house was built in the late 70s. How the heck do I open it?’

She made the discovery while hoovering the house and spotting ‘little frayed’ bits on the carpet.

Liz then contacted multiple locksmiths and the company that made the safe to open it.

Many responded they wouldn’t dare ‘mess’ with a floor safe. After all, who knows what could be inside?

Eventually Liz was put in touch with a man named Jim, who has a reputation for cracking difficult safe combinations.

By now some six million viewers were invested in finding out what was in there.

Some suggested there could be a secret tunnel, while others joked the woman’s dog looked ‘suspicious’ – jesting he might know more.

After all of that, the end result was that the safe was empty – how disappointing.

At least Liz now has a nice bit of storage under the floor she can use to hide things away.
