A new inquest into the death of a teenager who died while being chased by police in a stolen car is set to take place later this autumn. A jury at Manchester South Coroner’s Court, in Stockport, heard details about the death of Kyle Hudson, 16 earlier this year.
Assistant Coroner Adrian Farrow began the hearing on March 21, and took representations from Kyle’s family and a Home Office pathologist before proceedings were unexpectedly adjourned. A pre-inquest review was held Manchester South Coroner’s Court, in Stockport, yesterday (Friday) to set a date for a new inquest.
Alison Mutch, senior coroner for Manchester South, confirmed that the inquest, which is also to be heard by a jury, will begin on October 31. It is expected to last for up to a week.

Kyle – who also used the surname Brotherton – died after crashing a Toyota Yaris a left-hand bend on Hall Moss Lane in Bramhall on November 13, 2020. The vehicle was being pursued by Cheshire Police at the time.
He passed away at Salford Royal Hospital the following day. Following Kyle’s death, tributes poured in remembering the teen.
His auntie Jade Ratcliffe and uncle Anthony Brotherton told the Manchester Evening News : “We absolutely adored him. He was a beautiful young boy. This has left a massive hole in our family. He has four cousins who are heartbroken.
“He will be loved and missed every second of every day. Life will never, ever be the same. He had the most cheeky smile and a contagious laugh. To us, he was perfect.”
