New $2.1million Delage D12 Speedster has jet-style cockpit and 1,100 horsepower

DELAGE’S new D12 Speedster hypercar is bringing F1 driving to the streets.

The French car manufacturer will limit its D12 production to 30 models, with nine examples slated for U.S. delivery.

The D12 strikes a balance between aggressive and futuristic design by taking exterior cues from fighter jets and F1 cars.

These fighter-jet design elements include a cockpit opening and almost double the G-force of any supercar.

Delage’s D12 seats two — but the driver and passenger will sit in an inline [in front of and behind] configuration.

Inline seating helps the D12 achieve a perfectly centered weight balance that produces higher performance levels.

Drivers commanding a Delage D12 will have 1,100 horsepower on tap.

This massive maximum horsepower level comes from a 7.6L homemade V12 engine and 110 electric horsepower engine hybrid combination.

The D12 offers four distinct driving modes.

The City setting is all-electric, Road is hybrid, Track has maximum hybrid power, and My Mix allows you to choose from 432 possible combinations.

Delage is taking their D12’s jaw-dropping performance specs to Germany’s Nürburgring track in 2023 to try and set a new lap time world record.

This world record attempt will take place in 2023, according to the manufacturer.

Drivers looking to get even closer to an F1 driving experience can order one or both of the D12’s open-top configurations.

One of the D12’s open-top options changes the fighter-jet canopy to a raked windshield.

The other open-top D12 doubles down on F1-inspired design with a small wind deflector and HALO occupant protection shield, according to Robb Report.

Delage expects to deliver its first D12 models by the end of 2023, Fox reports.
