MUMBAI: Ameya Machave, a student of GS Medical College and KEM Hospital, bagged the top position in NEET-PG in the state with an all-India rank of five. He scored 717 marks out of 800 in the test conducted for admissions to post-graduate medical courses including MD/MS/ DNB/diploma. Machave, 23, who originally hails from Satara, is keen on pursuing his MD in Medicine. The National Board of Examinations (NBE), which conducted the test on March 5, announced the results on Tuesday.
Machave will also appear for the entrance test for AIIMS and then decide on the college, from where he wishes to pursue MD. He will either continue with KEM or move to Delhi, he told TOI.
As per the results, the national cut-off score for admissions in PG courses is 291 out of 800, equivalent to 50 percentile. For students from the reserved categories, the cut-off is 257, equivalent to 40 percentile. Aspirants across the country were seeking postponement of NEET-PG as the internships in most states were getting over by May or August. Their petition in the Supreme Court, however, was dismissed. Students and parents feel that the counseling rounds based on NEET-PG will anyway not start in the next two to three months and the centre could have easily delayed the exam.
