We Are Underway!

Kuusela Toni and Ogujra Kenji are the first two athletes to jump into action in the World Athletics Championships Men’s Javelin Throw Qualification event. They all will have three attempts to cross the qualification mark.

The Group A event in the men’s Javelin Throw qualification is se to begin. Remember, Neeraj Chopra is the last man in the list. There are 17 other athletes who will be attempting to qualify before him.

Neeraj Chopra is heading into the championships as the world’s top-ranked javelin thrower and will be aiming to win that elusive gold to boost not only his personal cabinet but also India’s rising credentials in athletics. 

World Championships Live Updates: Deadly Neeraj

Neeraj has already won gold at the Olympics, Commonwealth Games and the Asian Games. He is also the Diamond League champion. However, he has yet to win a top prize in the World Championships. Last year, he came really close to clinching the gold last year but had to settle for a silver, coming behind Grenada’s Anderson Peters. It was India’s first-ever silver at the marquee athletics event and overall second after Anju Bobby George’s bronze medal in the women’s long jump back in 2003. 

Qualifying Scenario!

The authorities have set 83 metres has been kept as the automatic qualifying mark. At least 12 players will be going into the final which will take place on Sunday.

The Order Of Throw!

India’s Neeraj Chopra will be the last athlete in action in Group A, according to the order of throw, on the World Athletics Championship website. Manu DP will be 14th.

Neeraj Chopra, whose Personal Best is 89.94, would be determined to breach the 90m mark in the World Athletics Championships, be it in the qualifying round or the final.
