Neena Gupta Talks About Playing A Negative Role In Dial 100
Around 2017 Neena Gupta had taken to her Instagram stating how she isn’t getting good roles due to her age and stated the fact that senior actors don’t have many roles written for them. Cut to today, she’s a part of almost every offering we see on OTT. The actress has completely changed the game for herself and other senior actors too.

And while she has been doing several light-hearted roles in comedies and family dramas, she plays a negative role in her next project. Neena Gupta will be next seen in Dial 100 where she locks horns with Manoj Bajpayee. Speaking about the project to a leading daily, the actress said that when she was offered the role she downright rejected it. Neena Gupta said that she wasn’t keen on doing negative roles and said no directly even before the narration. However her manager asked her to read the script as the role looked interesting to him. “My manager convinced me to hear the narration, explaining how the character’s arc develops. That’s when I realised it’s not an (all-black) role, but one that has many shades,” said the actress to the daily.
Neena Gupta further adds why she was hesitant to play a negative role because she believes that once you do a negative role, you get bracketed. But as she says, this one has many shades, “When I was young, I didn’t get such roles. Usually, if a movie or series is a hit, you start getting similar parts. I wonder why Rensil and Siddharth P Malhotra (co-producer) thought of me for such a distinct role.”
