NDMC schools to have language and Atal Tinkering labs – Times of India
Speaking to Education Times, Satish Upadhyay, vice-chairman, New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC), says, “Initially, our plan is to upgrade 29 schools, for which we have set up an Engineering department which will look after the infrastructural up-gradation of schools. As part of this up-gradation, computer labs would be modernised, ATLs would be set up in 14 schools and language labs too will be set up.
The aim is to enhance inclusivity in schools by providing students unhindered access to the ATLs, smart classrooms, digital libraries. A cash prize of Rs 10,000 will be offered to the meritorious students of class X and XII and free stationery for primary students.”
“Besides the infrastructure, we are also working on upgrading the quality of the teachers to create a teacher-resource base. The modernisation of lab infrastructure would ensure holistic approach to teaching-learning process,” he adds.
New measures are being introduced to have a bagless culture in pre-primary and primary schools commence after the pandemic, adds Upadhyay.
“In addition to this, we will be providing online learning material to about 2,500 students belonging to the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category and would also upgrade all primary classes from I to V into smart classes. We had set up a Women Technical Institute in the year 1990 which teaches vocational courses like Fashion Designing, Textile Designing, Dance, Dress Designing, Stenography and Embroidery to women students after they pass out of schools.”
To increase positivity amongst students, the schools will have nature-classes and learning methods based on Gurukul theme.
