NBA 2K23 Michael Jordan Edition Announced With Return Of Classic Jordan Challenges

NBA 2K23 is only a few months away and still had yet to have any sort of cover athlete or detailed information drop, but that is finally changing this week with a series of reveals that is starting with the announcement of the NBA 2K23 Michael Jordan Edition.

Regardless of who your favorite basketball player ever is, there is little question that Michael Jordan is one of the most iconic of all time, if not the most iconic.

This is why people were really excited with the release of the Jordan-focused NBA 2K11, which 2K Sports is looking to replicate yet again with the reveal of the NBA 2K23 Michael Jordan Edition and NBA 2K23 Championship Edition.

Not only will Jordan be gracing the cover of these two editions, but the game will also feature the return of a major fan-favorite feature with the Jordan Challenges. The Jordan Challenges were introduced back in NBA 2K11 and included 10 unique challenges that were based on some of the most iconic moments of his career.

In NBA 2K23, the 10 original challenges that were in 2K11 have been rebuilt from the ground up in their return, but that is not all. There will also be five additional challenges included for players to experience. Across the 15 challenges, players will get to experience Jordan through college, the NBA, and even as part of Team USA.

As this was just the reveal of the Michael Jordan Edition and Championship Edition, 2K Sports did not give any details about any of the other features that will be included in NBA 2K23 itself. This week seems to be focused on cover reveals, but more information about the game will start to come out here soon in the months leading to the release of the game.

How Much Will These Two Versions Cost?

These two versions of the game are not the base version that will retail for $69.99 on current-gen hardware and $59.99 on last-gen hardware, but rather are premium versions of the game that comes in one of two varieties.

While the Michael Jordan Edition and Championship Edition versions were announced, they have not revealed a price point for either game quite yet. The price reveal will come alongside the announcement of the release date on July 7, which is also when pre-orders will go on sale.

The only thing we do know is that the Michael Jordan Edition will be cheaper than the Championship Edition. Typically, NBA 2K games have a version that costs about $10 more than the base version and then a $99.99 version, but it remains to be seen how much these two will end up costing.

One inclusion that likely will pump up the price of the NBA 2K23 Championship Edition is a 12-month subscription to NBA League Pass. This typically retails for $199.99, so there is no telling what this version could cost. However, sometimes including something like this at a much cheaper price is worth it for them, similar to how T-Mobile does the free subscription to MLB.TV each year.

Make sure to stay tuned in the coming days for more reveals related to NBA 2K23.
