Naomi Watts warned career would end when she became ‘unf*ckable at 40’
Naomi Watts, 54, recalled her first conversations after landing her breakthrough role in the 2001 film Mulholland Drive. The Hollywood star explained at 31 years old, she was considered “old” in the film industry and was warned her career would end when she became “unf***able”.
She explained: “I was told, ‘You better get a lot done because it’s all over at 40 when you become unf***able’.
“And I’m like, ‘What? What does that mean exactly?’
“Then you think about it, and you go, ‘Oh, right. When you are no longer reproductive, when those organs are no longer functioning, you are not sexy, so, therefore, you are not hirable’.
“That just made me so mad,” added to Entertainment Weekly.
The actress made her film debut in Australia, in the 1986 drama For Love Alone.
She then appeared in three television series, Hey Dad..! (1990), Brides of Christ (1991), and Home and Away (1991), and the film Flirting (1991).
However, it was not until she starred in David Lynch’s psychological thriller Mulholland Drive in 2001 that she began her ascent to international fame.
Now, as an established actress, Naomi has two Oscar nominations and numerous other awards under her belt.
Naomi is also set to star in the upcoming Netflix stalker thriller The Watcher.
Earlier this week, she stunned as she made a dazzling appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
For the occasion, Naomi donned a sequin embellished Prabal Gurung dress in hot pink that accentuated her slim figure.
She complemented the look with a bold smokey eye and a red lip, and wore her straight blonde bob in an elegant side part.
