Naked, Alone and Racing to Get Home saw a contestant get down on one knee despite missing out on the show’s cash prize during Thursday night’s episode.

The E4 fixture that challenges members of the public to navigate their way out of the wilderness completely naked tests four individuals’ survival skills.

Split into two teams, couple Jenny and Steve got more than they bargained for when their time on the programme resulted in a marriage proposal.

The contest was ultimately won by the opposition – Meryl and Mike, two strangers who banded together to survive for three days – however, Jenny declared she was the real ‘winner’ when her boyfriend produced a ring in the last minutes of the episode.

Stripped of their phones, clothing and money, the now engaged couple’s relationship was tested to its limit as they foraged for food and shelter and put their heads together to avoid hypothermia and the likes.

At the end of the three gruelling days, the teams must race through a local stark naked in a bid to get their hands on the show’s cash prize.

Losing out by minutes, Jenny and Steve fell short but before they could even process what had happened Steve was on one knee and produced an engagement ring.

Ahead of becoming a bride to be, Jenny said of her victorious competitors: ‘They deserved it, they did well. I feel a little bit disappointed for Ste, I feel I let him down’.

Following her statement, Steve took over and shocked everyone with what he said next: ‘I had a plan in place that I was going to do something you would remember for the rest of your life.

‘I’ve got a surprise for you, you’re going to hate this now. Will you marry me?’

‘Yes!,’ was Jenny’s response to which her partner exclaimed: ‘You weren’t expecting that were you?’

The shocked contestant said through teary eyes: ‘We don’t need to win, I’ve just won.

‘We can make money another way, we don’t need it. I think I would have chosen this over the money.

‘It’s been a great experience, I’m so excited. This is such an amazing thing to happen today and now to the future’.

Naked, Alone and Racing to Get Home airs tonight at 9pm on E4.
